The Global Leukodystrophy Initiative Clinical Trials Network (GLIA-CTN) offers a variety of options for individuals and families affected by leukodystrophies. With nationwide clinical centers of excellence and cutting-edge research programs, our team’s mission is to ensure that every family has the personalized resources needed to navigate the various diagnostic and therapeutic options available to support those affected by these rare conditions.
In addition to working with individual families to identify personalized clinical and research resources, we also seek to support the community as a whole by collaborating closely with clinical, research, advocacy, and industry stakeholders to design and implement network-wide natural history studies and clinical trials. The goal of these research efforts is to identify the outcomes of greatest value to the patient community and to follow through on our promises to deliver that data back to the community. We believe that scientific knowledge is a public good, and we do not commercialize our data.
We are pleased to offer a number of ways to participate.
Join a Study
The GLIA-CTN is home to a multi-center “research biorepository” that is open to all individuals with known or suspected leukodystrophies, along with other conditions affecting the white matter of the brain. Individuals may participate remotely and/or by visiting one of our research sites, and we are also pleased to offer a growing number of natural history studies and clinical trials for specific leukodystrophies.

Support Us
Although the GLIA-CTN’s research projects are funded by federal grants, we rely heavily on community support to expand our resources beyond those projects. For instance, many of our family and scientific conferences would not have been possible without fundraising efforts by advocacy organizations and individual families.
